America claims ownership of 782,000 square miles of the Pacific Ocean

America claims ownership of 782,000 square miles of the Pacific Ocean

by Dr. Samori Swygert

I hate saying, “I told you so,” so I’m moving along as planned…  A front page, above the fold article in the June 17th Washington Post, revealed the United States plan to expand our claim over the world’s oceans. According to the article, President Obama has addressed the plan at a meeting. He detailed how a vast portion of the Pacific Ocean will now be off limits.

The impetus that’s driving the proposal is to preserve a precious section of the Pacific Ocean. Supposedly, this section has some of the most purest water on earth, it’s devoid of pollution.  The proposal will also prevent fishing, energy exploration, and “other activities.”  There is an open comment period in which the public can submit concerns and issues for the administration to review.

The terminologies that the administration is using to refer to this vast expanse of water are “sanctuaries and monuments.” Currently, America has claim over 87,000 square miles of the ” Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.”  President Obama will expand this to 782,000 square miles.  The article also says, ” The ocean area under consideration, by contrast, encompasses uninhabited islands in a remote region with sparse economic activity.”

Early last week, I wrote an in-depth 2-part article called New World Water: Part 1 and Part 2.  I illuminated the fact that nations and multinational corporations are laying claim to the world’s water supply.  There was a 2014 Global Water Summit in Paris, France that the TV media failed to cover back in April, and the newspapers failed to give any fanfare or attention.  This only confirms my assertions and position about the summit.  This appears to be one of many sequential steps in complete global dominance.

It’s ironic that only two months after the 2014  Global Water Summit, President Obama seeks to expand the designation and demarcation of America’s “claim” in the Pacific Ocean.  The article I wrote addressed only a few topics from the Global Water Summit such as: purchasing water rights,  developing water management systems, imposing water restriction policies, and how to develop profitability policies.  I’m certain there was more to the summit, but it was an exclusive meeting, and the specific material would only be divulged to entities privileged or authorized to attend.

The Washington Post article also reports that the British government is also creating a “marine sanctuary’ in the Pacific, and the president of a Pacific Island nation of Kirbati said he will close an area “the size of California”  to commercial fishing by the end of 2014.  President Bush also set aside a claim in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands while he was in office.

The intentions appear noble and good because we are using terms like:  “conservation,” “preservation,” and “sustainability.” These terms sound good — they are audibly palatable and pleasing.  However, there is a fine line between conservation and imposing man-made limits of a natural resource required for human vitality. When America demarcates these geographical boundaries, who are we depriving of a resource?  Who gives us the authority to lay claim over the ocean, and who can/can’t fish in specific marine locales?  Why must other nations be restricted from one of the most purest portions of Earth’s oceans?

Understand Political Talk

We must specifically assess the verbiage in political speak.  What do they mean when they say “other activities” and “other threats”?  These are broad terms.  What will it entail, and require to enforce these boundaries?  Will this portion of the ocean be specifically untouched by everyone, or only our military and other governing bodies?  What’s the criteria for use if this section of water is needed?

I will attach the Washington Post article, my article on the NEW WORLD WATER  and the Global Water Summit of 2014, also note that the U.S. Military has developed a way to create Jet Fuel from seawater.

Are we exercising  “maritime manifest destiny”?…what are your thoughts?

New World Water Part 2

New World Water Part 2: The 2014 Global Water Summit (Click here to read Part I)

by Dr. Samori Swygert

What does it mean to you when heads of major hedge funds and private equity firm managers speculate on the profitability of water?

First, I’d like to be fair and address the current need for water management:

Reasons that water management should be exercised

We’ve witnessed oil spills like the Exxon Valdez and the BP oil spill. We’ve also seen millions of gallons of toxic coal ash leak into North Carolina’s Dan River and the toxic spill into West Virginia’s drinking water supply. We’ve also witnessed and continue to hear about the nuclear spill from the Fukushima Nuclear Reactor, which has made way to the west coast. Portions of Iowa and other states that rely on agricultural commerce have seen a pervasive infiltration of nitrates into their water supply from fertilizer. We’ve witnessed an increase in water deficits in drought-prone areas throughout the Midwest to California. Many remember Shane Snyder, an ecological toxicologist who elucidated the increase of feminized male marine life in Lake Mead (Nevada), the Potomac River (DC), Denver, and California.  This phenomena was occurring due to “traces of codeine, Prozac, Valium, common antibiotics, insect repellents and a host of chemicals termed endocrine disruptors into the Lake Mead reservoir.”

We must remember the Uranium contamination of Red Water Pond Road of the Navajo Nation of the Native Americans. Their reservation is the site of the largest Uranium dump in America. The remaining groups of the Navajo tribe will be displaced from their reservation because the EPA has ruled it too toxic for inhabiting due to Uranium mining and dumping (their cattle and kids play in contaminated water).

Lastly, the Supreme Court recently said that ex-military and North Carolina plaintiffs couldn’t be rewarded from a lawsuit against an electronics company that is responsible for toxic contamination of drinking water at Camp Lejeune. The water was tainted with benzene, Trichloroethylene,  and other chemicals that led to generations of individuals with rare forms of leukemia, liver, kidney and other cancers…….Yes, mater Management and oversight are needed!

The technology

Big corporations have procured the best scientists and engineers to devise water treatment systems that multinational corporations are investing in, encouraging nations to adopt, and develop international standards. According to the agenda of the Global Water Summit of 2014, they’ve designed bacteria that breaks down waste, ultrafiltration membranes, advanced desalination systems, nanofiltration technology, hydrolysis, reverse osmosis systems and a myriad of other “solutions”.

My issues

When have you ever seen the privatization of earth’s natural resources turn out good? Throughout the Global Water Summit agenda, a specific theme is: Repetitive, Ubiquitous, and Diffuse. The theme is maximization of profit and how to impose this technology on nations and local municipalities for profit. I wouldn’t have a problem if the approach was noble in effort, but money and profit always pervert noble motives.

I believe this will evolve into a system of “hoard and ration.” The major corporations have hundreds of billions of dollars to sway politicians to present logical arguments on water conservation, but it will ultimately lead to “hydro-austerity.” The fact that this summit wasn’t even in the news or the traditional newspaper outlets speaks volumes. The exclusivity of the summit allows the privileged, wealthy, and powerful conglomerates to posture themselves for windfall profits because water is mandatory for life.

Examples of my hypothesis

California has already initiated proposals and standards to be imposed on its citizens. An article in the Sacramento Bee highlighted future mandates. “All urban water districts in California must decrease water usage per person at least 20 percent by 2020. By 2017, all pre-1994 homes must be retrofitted with low-flow plumbing fixtures in showers and toilets. The city faces a 2025 deadline under state law to finish metering all customers.” Furthermore, they are shrinking lot sizes of properties that are on the market to regulate water consumption.

These are means to reduce water consumption, but this will also lead to increase in water bills and taxes. The forced adoption of new water efficient technology is a pat on the back to the designers of the technology that attended the conference. They will get rich by imposing new laws and standards centered on the science and technology they developed and marketed around the globe.

How can we apply this knowledge of the Global Water Summit as African Americans?

The EPA said that we will need to spend at least $380 Billion dollars to upgrade our water infrastructure. Maybe we can get finance expert and scholar Dr. Boyce Watkins to explain how to invest in Tax Free Municipal Bonds that are set aside for the upgrades nationwide. Also, now is the time to thoroughly survey your property and find out if you’re sitting on water, and look into purchasing water rights too.

For comedy sake

We may have more water available if they didn’t waste so much hosing us down during civil rights protests. I also know that these company executives are studying how to charge us for water as they smoke cigars in their jacuzzi. Maybe all this depletion of water will eventually result in the recovery of Malaysian Flight 370 (yeah right!). I project that the division between the rich and poor will produce a real “Watergate” — rich on one side, and poor on the other. We need Moses to come and tap some of these rocks to spew forth some fresh water. Man I miss water balloon fights and Super Soakers.

Did you know that a bunch of wealthy people gather to discuss how to control your water?

The New World Water part 1: The Global Water Summit of 2014

by Dr. Samori Swygert

One of my favorite emcees is Mos Def. A while ago, he made a song titled “New World Water” on his first album. Now fast forward to 2014 and we realize that the record is more than just a song.

Water is a natural resource made available to all inhabitants on Earth. Many believe that the accessibility and availability of water is a human right. Now may be the time to reexamine these premises and assertions. Are you aware that the GLOBAL WATER SUMMIT OF 2014 just concluded this past April in Paris, France? Were you aware that they have GLOBAL WATER SUMMITS?

This summit is the “Who’s Who” of global executive leaders, private equity firms, hedge fund managers, technology strategists, and infrastructure development experts. Yes, the water we know, need, and love is currently being speculated on for venture capital investments as an emerging market.

The itinerary of the summit consisted of 45 sessions that addressed desalination, advanced water treatment technologies, water transport, developing public policies for urban water use, and devising sustainable water solutions in: Africa, Singapore, Israel, India, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Pakistan, and Bahrain.

Here are 5 titles of the 45 sessions that were presented

  1. Water’s impact on Profitability, New Metrics Underpinning Investment in Water Management Programmes
  2. Water conflict and peacemaking in Future Cities
  3. Venture Capital Investments in Water: Ingredients to success
  4. Technology investor focus: Which water treatment technologies are getting investors’ attention and why
  5. Competition in the urban water supply chain: What are the emerging trends?

This is the lexicon of speculators. It sounds more than just sustainability and environmental conservation.

Why is this important?

Globally and domestically, there are companies and individuals that are buying up water rights. What are water rights?  When you purchase property, people typically think of acreage, square feet, and overall perimeters they will own. However, real estate savvy individuals recognize the importance of what is below your land. Your property may be pregnant with gold, oil, coal, water, and more. You can purchase the rights to own those resources below your property.

Some people own property but someone else may own the water rights to the H2O beneath it. Bloomberg Businessweek produced an article that detailed how the Royal Dutch Shell is buying groundwater rights in Colorado, Nestle is purchasing water rights throughout America, and investors in Australia are buying water rights and reselling it to farmers at a marked up value.

The article also details how an old Texas oil tycoon, T. Boone Pickens, owns 68,000 acres in the Texas Panhandle that sits on the Ogallala Aquifer that contains a QUADRILLION gallons of water. He projects that he will eventually sell 65 billion gallons a year to Dallas.

This is important because government agencies forecast that the demand for water will exceed the supply by 40 percent by 2030. The demand is based on increased population, climate change, urbanization, and industrialization. The principle basis of economics is scarcity. How do you manage scarce resources, and match it with the demand of the public, while making a profit? Throughout America, water rights are being purchased like home foreclosures. This is occurring in Florida, Texas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, and other states.

The proposed technology and infrastructure

The proposed and current technological processes deal with desalination of ocean and seawater. This process is similar to hemodialysis. Water filtration plants are being built and renovated throughout America. The filtration plants will suck up ocean water and filter out the salt content so that it’s suitable and safe for human consumption and redeposit the remaining salt back to the ocean.

There is also reverse osmosis. This process is being used and heavily proposed nationwide. This takes groundwater, sewage waste water and systematically separates the particulate matter, contaminants, microorganisms, pharmaceuticals, and carcinogens and then passes them through ultrafiltration membranes, ultraviolet lights, and ozone to “purify” it. I encourage you to read everything on your bottle of Dasani, that’s all I will say.

Furthermore, according to three different stories in USA Today, The Huffington Post, and The Washington Times, the U.S. Navy has confirmed that they’ve developed a method that can convert seawater into jetfuel. We all know our country’s thirst for war (no pun intended).

Proponents for reverse osmosis feel that it’s safe for consumption, but currently many companies and utilities use it for agricultural irrigation, toilet, bath, cleaning, industrial needs (thermonuclear energy, semiconductors, and etc.).

It’s all about the Benjamins Baby

The Environmental Protection Agency said that America will need to spend at least $380 billion to upgrade the nation’s water infrastructure. This is why you have Private Equity Firms like Blackstone in attendance at the summit. The Clark County Water Reclamation District is currently estimating spending $585 million to construct a 17 mile long water pipeline to supply Las Vegas. California constructed a $481 million Groundwater Replenishment System that conducts reverse osmosis. In the U.K., a water service provider was propositioned by a conglomeration of Kuwaiti, Canadian, and British investors for $8 billion. In Melbourne, Australia a company named Tandou Ltd has approximately $30 million in water rights. Nikko Asset Management, a Tokyo based subsidiary tried to raise $100 million from Australia for water funds. A utility company called, Canadian River Municipal Water Authority purchased 43,000 acres of water in Texas for $14.5 Million.

The story gets even deeper… Stay tuned for “The New World Water Part 2.” This is too much info for one article.

China to build underwater railroad to United States

China to build underwater railroad to United States

Reported by Dr. Samori Swygert

You have to marvel at China’s innovation, creativity, and ingenuity.  You have to respect China’s hustle.  They have brokered oil deals with Iraq and built their own airport in the desert to fly their oil workers into Iraq.  China has successfully maneuvered their way into Africa to build new infrastructure, mines, and hospitals.  They’ve also partnered with several Latin American countries for their resources (e.g. Lithium sands), and China is also pioneering new solar energy throughout Latin America.

However, the next item on China’s conquest is a Modern Marvel.  This new endeavor will be a monumental and historical record for the ages.  China has developed plans to construct an 8,000 mile railroad  that will travel under water from China to America.  Currently, the railroad is mentioned to traverse and possibly service: China, Russia, Canada, and America.

This is a big bold behemoth project that can throw a curve ball in the international economic balance. This can and will affect trade.  According to the UK Guardian, it will travel at a speed of 220 mph hour.  I haven’t read anything on the energy or source of fuel that would be required of it in a long term projection, nor have I run across information regarding the safety and environmental impact of it. However, I imagine they would be able to incorporate hydroelectric power somewhere in that scheme since it is water-based travel. I’m sure China’s engineers and physicists have contemplated the possibilities.

This is a game changer for trade because we’ve seen how geographical boundaries like the Bering Strait, Strait of Gibraltar, Suez Canal, Strait of Magellan, the spice routes, and other geographical barriers of trade impact commerce.

This presents an unprecedented alternative that China is wagering on.  Furthermore, how does this plan by China fit or disrupt the TransPacific Partnership (TPP) that is still being designed, weighed, and planned? The TPP is the Geopolitical Elephant in the room.   Several countries are involved in this agreement, and this just might be China’s Trump Card in the deal because America has expressed some skepticism about China’s role in the TPP.

Why would China plan to build such an extensive railway to America, unless it already has the “green light” from America to involve it as a destination on their blueprint?  You can’t unknowingly include people in your collaboration without their permission, unless you have sufficient power to leverage over them.  China owns a lot of America’s debt, manufactures the majority of America’s consumer-based economy, owns substantial real estate in America, and is the main supplier of Neodymium that America needs for its missile defense system, laptops, smartphones, and more. Maybe China will force America’s hand.

I mean Harriet Tubman worked the “Underground Railroad” (no not a real train) via intricate coordination among people along her trail, but this takes it to a whole new level.

President Obama condemns anti-gay African nations but not the Saudis

President Obama condemns anti-gay African nations but not the Saudis

by Dr. Samori Swygert

Homosëxuality has become one of the most divisive issues in America. I want to address it from a different angle.  I want to address the infusion of homosëxuality with America’s foreign policy.  Many are aware of President Obama’s relentless assertion that African nations should abandon their “anti-gay” philosophy.  President Obama has mentioned that he is willing to impose economic sanctions on African nations that choose not to conform to homosëxuality reform.  However, is this stance a fake strategy for an ulterior motive, or is this a show of favoritism?

Why do I ask this question?

Many people that embrace a very liberal position on sëxuality condemn African nations for stern enforcement of anti-gay policies.  However, is this really about morality or more about money?  One of America’s biggest allies and economic buddies is Saudi Arabia.  Saudi Arabia does and has been practicing Sharia law for ages.  Homosëxuals in Saudi Arabia can be imprisoned or executed.  However, where is President Obama’s public condemnation of Saudi Arabia for their anti-gay position????

What is America’s discretionary criteria for global anti-gay condemnation?  How do we go to a foreign nation and demand them to change their philosophy?  If we don’t agree with another nation’s social practices, then we should end all commerce and trade with the nation.  However, our message must be consistent and constant at each and every endeavor.  President Obama is selectively picking on African nations, but is completely mute about anti-gay policies with Saudi Arabia.

Why is America silent about anti-gay legislation with our partner?

Let’s look at economic resources:

Saudi Arabia has the LARGEST PROVEN OIL RESERVES IN THE WORLD.    CNBC posted 2011-2012 Proven oil reserves for Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi’s had 262.6 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.  The United States had only 20.68 billion barrels of proven oil reserves.  According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, Saudi Arabia is the 2nd country on America’s list of oil suppliers that we import from.

Historically speaking, over the last three administrations, you can Google photos of former President Bush, Clinton, and now Obama, and you will see all three wearing gold chains from the Saudis, shaking hands, bowing, laughing, and smiling with the royal Saudi family.  President Obama has yet to publicly condemn King Abdullah about the anti-gay component of Sharia law.

This forces a needed discussion.  Why is Saudi Arabia exempt from American chastisement for anti-gay policy?  How does King Abdullah escape U.S. ridicule and critique, but African nations get lambasted and bold economic sanctions levied on them?  Is our foreign policy hypocritical or bipolar when it comes to homosëxuality, race, and economic power? Where is our consistency?

Can the Saudi’s economic might buy President Obama’s and America’s silence on anti-gay policies? Should America simply leave sëxuality out of its foreign policy and stick with trade, commerce, and military strategy if we can’t be consistent in theme?

Does sëxual preference belong in geopolitical affairs, if so, who legislates the criteria?  Is it fair to let a nation starve because they don’t share the same sëxual ideology?  How do we want resources from African nations, and negotiate development of drone bases in African nations but tell them how to govern sëxual activity?

I don’t have the answers, but these are very serious questions.  This is an international double standard imposed on African nations that isn’t discussed.  Is this really a matter of morality or money? Where is the tough guy talk with the Saudis?

What are your thoughts?

America sends ballistic missile destroyers to Japan

America sends ballistic missile destroyers to Japan

by Dr. Samori Swygert

EVERYWHERE THERE’S WAR, RUMORS OF A WAR, WAR IN THE EAST, WAR IN THE WEST”–  ”War” by Bob Marley

Bob Marley was prophetic, observant, and just objectively sober.  He had a keen insight into the mind of mankind and how we address humanity when we interact with each other culturally, socially, and politically.  America could stand to sit down and listen intently to each word in his song titled “War.”

The United States government has an interesting way of choosing how to exercise and enforce our foreign policy and diplomacy.

America is at it again.  According to an article by the Guardian, the U.S. is sending in two additional ballistic missile destroyers to Japan.  This is a maneuver to “counter” North Korea’s military progression.

U.S. Defense Secretary, Chuck Hagel, said some things that seem rather hypocritical about how other nations handle their international affairs.

The Guardian quotes Hagel saying: “We must be very careful and we must be very clear, all nations of the world, that in the 21st century this will not stand, you cannot go around the world and redefine boundaries and violate territorial integrity and sovereignty of nations by force, coercion and intimidation, whether it’s in small islands in the Pacific or large nations in Europe”.

He continued to criticize Russia’s move on Crimea, and China’s encroachment on smaller Pacific Islands.

I think we must be honest and admit that our government goes around and imposes, asserts, coerces, and exerts their authority on several nations and ignores the sovereignty of numerous countries.

We’ve seen how African nations are being bullied around by America’s ultimatum to accept homosexuality or face stiff sanctions.  We’ve had a propaganda based war in Iraq.  We have nuclear capability but yet we tell sovereign nations like Iran and North Korea that they can’t possess or develop equivalent weaponry.  We use treaties, resolutions, and U.N. reccomendations as a pretense to rationalize the disarmament of these nations.

We’ve been and still have a demographic within our nation that are warmongers that are hell bent on war and conflict.  We’ve just had a run-in with Syria less than a year ago; we’re trying to dictate policy to Russia; and we’re still trying to keep Iran disarmed.  The sad thing is that we invest so much in war. We study war; we develop biological and chemical weapons; and we engineer mechanical weapons for war.  We are obsessed!

This is a sick cycle in which a set group of individuals that own and invest in war are the only ones to gain from global conflict.  The citzenry are left to foot the bill, which is partly why we’re in a deficit now from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

The insult  is the fact that the “powers that be” eagerly salivate over war, but never ever send their sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews into the harms of war.  They never have to deal with family members that return in bodybags, folded flags, PTSD, shell shocked syndrome, and physical disfiguration.  Our troops come back and cant find employment and typically face delayed benefits.

Private equity firms are poised to make billions from war and conflicts between the munitions industry, tech industry, metal/mineral industry, fuel industry, and more.

The paradoxical hypocrisy of freedom, liberty, and peace that we espouse in our sanctimonious posturing really humors me sadly.  I don’t know how we assume this position of moral superiority when we engage in some of the same war-based practices as the nations we condemn.

What would we do if other countries sent drones over here for surveillance?  However, we send our drones all over the globe just to watch or quell any inkling of offense.

We always find ourselves in some international war/conflict but never find the right things like: WMDs, Malaysian Airplanes, Peace, Zimmerman guilty, Relisha Rudd, or the $30 trillion dollars in offshore tax havens……..SMH

18 Questions Every American Should be Asking In Lieu of the Missing Plane

The Malaysian deception- what’s not being said

by: Samori Swygert

By now, everyone should be fully abreast of the circumstance surrounding the missing Malaysian airplane.  The news is obsessed with this airplane, and it has been sensationalized like the OJ Simpson trial. There is no question that people should have a spirit of humanity and empathy for the people who have loved ones on this aircraft that has gone off the grid.

However, I’ve learned that whenever this type of media coverage blankets the airwaves, it’s imperative to start examining what’s not being covered in the news.  Slight of hand tactics, diversions and distractions are always set in place to slide controversial issues under the radar.

What should the average American be doing right now?

Carefully look at global and domestic trends.  Apply a shrewd eye and keen analysis on forgotten matters. These are the type of questions you should be asking yourself now:

1) Was Syria ever truly resolved?

2) What is the Federal Reserve currently doing?

3) What is China doing?

4) What’s the status of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement?

5) What are the stock market trends, mergers, acquisitions, sell-offs?

6) What is the United Nations doing at this time?

7) What’s the latest news on North Korea and Iran?

8) What is truly at the root of Russia and Ukraine?

9) What legislation is being voted on, passed, or blocked in congress?

10) What is happening with your state pension plan?

11) What decisions are on the Supreme Court’s plate that deserve scrutiny and attention?

12) Who are the candidates that are getting groomed for the next election, and who are their supporters, allegiance, and who hosts their Super PAC?

13) What is really going on with the Keystone Pipeline, and will the president approve it?  Who has set themselves up to benefit from the Keystone Pipeline?

14) Why isn’t there anymore noise about the banks in Cyprus? What’s going on with the European Union and the world currencies?

15) Has your state’s voting eligibility requirements changed at all?

16) What educational policies have changed in your child’s school district that may affect their graduation, examinations, placement, and etc.?

17) What’s going on with your social security?

18) What will be the final call on longterm unemployment insurance?

It’s important that we look at both hands at this point in time.  Nothing new has really surfaced, they haven’t found the plane, but everything about the plane is “breaking news.”   That term is being abused. The only thing that would be remarkable at this point is if they found the  plane, people, or debunked a conspiracy.  However, this is primetime and all these “specialists” and “experts” are getting their paychecks for television appearances. The news is airing nothing but speculation.

Just like a good broadway play, the action lies behind the curtains.

African resources in the crosshairs of global capitalism

african oil

African resources in the crosshairs of global capitalism

By: Dr. Samori Swygert

This month’s edition of Worth Magazine, a financial magazine, highlighted potential investments for 2014.  I reviewed some of the hotspots and focal points of investment.  The magazine highlighted Kenya and Mozambique as potential investment targets because of their untapped oil reserves.

I then researched the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the United States Geological Survey to correlate the magazine’s prospects with the data collected by America.  The wealth and resources of Africa are still abundant despite its’ history of plunder and pillaging.

Understanding the math

Before going any further, it’s important to understand the quantitative measurements that the data is reported in.

1 cubic foot= 28.3 liters

1 cubic foot= 7.6 gallons

1 barrel of oil= 42 gallons

1 barrel of oil= 5.6 cubic feet

These are important so that you have a relatable picture of the amount of volume in the reports that I’ve attached and sharing with you.

The technology

The U.S. uses high resolution satellite imagery, terrain analysis, and digital elevation models that allows them to calibrate the quantity of volume diamonds, and oil to be drilled or excavated.  Technically we can see what resources Africa has without actually being in Africa.  Think of it like a sonogram.  With a sonogram, you can see the image of the baby without having to actually enter the womb of the mother, you simply slather a little “jelly on the belly”, scan and view.

Diamonds are forever

A November 2012 fact sheet published by the United States Geological Survey reported that in Se’gue’la, Africa, there was a total of 10,100,100 carats of diamond deposits that have yet to be excavated.  Tortiya, Africa has a diamond reserve deposit of 1,100,000 that has yet to be excavated.  These two sections of Africa are located along the Ivory Coast.  The engineering, aerospace, luxury, and healthcare industries have many uses for diamonds, and I have no current updates of the amount of diamonds after this 2012 report.

The above info can be found here:  http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2012/3130/pdf/fs2012-3130.pdf

Slicker than oil

It is only logical that the U.S. engages in oil prospects as our demand for oil increases, and we try to become independent of OPEC for national operations.  This is why the Keystone Pipeline is the Big Steak on America’s dinner table.  African oil reserves are abundant and plentiful.  You may be wondering how plentiful right?

4 West African Provinces were analyzed and the results are jaw dropping.  America assessed the surrounding areas of Senegal, the Gulf of Guinea, the Niger Delta, the West-Central Coastal areas.  The survey estimates 71.7 billion barrels of oil, 187.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 10.9 billion barrels of natural gas liquids.  These were untapped and unexplored.  http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2010/3006/pdf/FS10-3006.pdf

Libya and Tunisia were analyzed in a 2010 geological survey.  The report furnished the following results:  3.97 billion barrels of undiscovered oil, 38.5 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered natural gas, and 1.47 billion barrels of undiscovered natural gas liquids.

 http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2011/3105/pdf/FS11-3105.pdf

4 East African Provinces were analyzed.  The following areas were assessed: the Tanzania Coastal, the Seychelles, the Morondava, and the Mozambique coastal region.  The following results were reported by the United States Geological Survey: 27.6 billion barrels of oil, 441.1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, and 13.77 billion barrels of natural gas liquids.

http://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/2012/3039/contents/FS12-3039.pdf

8 North African Provinces were analyzed.  The following areas were assessed: the Nile Delta Basin, Sirte Basin, Pelagian Basin, Trias/Ghadames Basin, Hamra Basin, Illizi Basin, Grand Erg/Ahnet Basin, and Essaouira Basin.  The following results were reported by the Geological Survey:  19 billion barrels of technically recoverable undiscovered conventional oil, and  370 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered conventional natural gas resources.

It’s imperative that African nations are aware of the resources they possess.  The data retrieved by the survey didn’t involve invasive or diplomatically approved exploration, because this was conducted by satellite imagery and other methodologies.  Major technological advances and resources should be developed and made available to these African nations to extract these valuable resources in a safe and efficient manner.  The leaders of these nations must be very astute in their negotiations when granting exploratory and mining licenses to avoid exploitation which has been a repetitive, redundant, and recurrent theme in Africa’s history.  This is a tremendous bargaining chip for many of these nations.

This is also important considering the “mentioned” sanctions by the Obama administration of many African nations.  Food, medical and other aide is being held ransom-like by the U.S. for some African nations for failure to adopt or endorse homosexuality into their countries philosophy.   Also, are there potential business opportunities between African Americans and fellow Africans in the Motherland?

Were drugs another reason America entered Afghanistan?

By: Dr. Samori Swygert

I hate to be accusatory, but you must always ask questions to distill truth from situations.  I was reviewing some old articles I read from the The Economist magazine (a very reputable geopolitical news source).  July 14th, 2005, the Economist magazine published an article entitled; After Victory, defeat- Nature takes a malign hand.

This is the link:   http://www.economist.com/node/4174642

The ulterior motive and  “high” hopes

Afghanistan’s geographical landscape is home to one of the largest supplies of poppy from which opium is produced.  The United States engaged the Taliban and Al Qaeda after the tragedy of 9/11.  This led to a witch hunt for Osama Bin Laden across various regions of the Middle East.  America ultimately landed in Afghanistan.

According to the article in the Economist, in one year alone in 2003, Afghanistan harvested 4,200 tonnes of opium.  1 Ton = 2000 pounds, and 1 kilo= 2.2 pounds.  This translates into 3,817,800 KILOS of RAW opium in 2003 alone. The typical street value of a kilo averages ~$23,000 (give or take).  $23,000 multiplied by 3,817,800 kilos = $87,809,400,000.00.   Remember this is raw uncut, un-manipulated opium.

When I looked at that, I was forced to rethink a lot of things.

I remember reading an article in the New York Times about bags of “ghost money” being sent to Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.  That article can be found here: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/29/world/asia/cia-delivers-cash-to-afghan-leaders-office.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

I then recalled how General Colin Powell ruined his credibility by selling misinformation to the UN as a pretext for war against Sadaam Hussein, and accused him of possessing “weapons of mass destruction”.  The war against Sadaam never revealed any such weapons, but America had disposed of one of their long-term  targeted enemies.

The war on terror is a masterpiece of military, political, and capitalistic strategy.  There are legitimate concerns that should be addressed as far as national security and defense.  However, I can only look at the data supplied and form my own thoughts.  That is called independent thinking and connecting the dots.

I won’t go further into speculation because it’s irresponsible and reckless to make accusations you can’t substantiate and prove.  However, I’d like to know your thoughts, and if it perked your curiosity as well.

How China Is Poised For Global Economic Domination

The-United-States-A-Colony-Of-China-300x187      by Dr. Samori Swygert

China is strategically positioning itself as the real superpower.  Many economists, pundits, and news media outlets would like to reduce China to an over-crowded, communist country with a one-child policy, and a pollution problem.  However, China has been meticulously calculative  and shrewd in their foreign affairs.

America boasts about being the most mightiest nation on earth. However, we are faltering and requiring continuous infusions of dollars from the Federal Reserve to preserve economic stability. We’re struggling with a $17 trillion debt. We spend billions upon billions of dollars on defense, war, and national security. We’ve seen how Greece and other nations in Europe are struggling with austerity, and the crippling ripples of economic imbalance.  However, China has managed to stay above the monetary carnage, and remain independent of World Bank welfare.

China and Oil Trade

First, according to a New York Times article, China purchases approximately 1.5 million barrels of oil a day from Iraq.  The Chinese government is reportedly investing $2 billion dollars a year into Iraq.  They have constructed their own airport in the desert that borders Iraq and Iran.  The Chinese government uses the airport to fly their own oil workers into Iraq, and they are developing direct flights into Baghdad from Shanghai and Beijing.  The article even explains how China has trained their workers to speak Arabic with an Iraqi accent!  The U.S. eliminated Sadaam, but China really benefited.  Iraq is the 2nd biggest oil producer after the Saudis, according to OPEC.  This is beneficial to Iraq because they use oil revenue to fund military and other governmental operations.

China and the Rare Earth Metal Market

Many nations (including America) use rare earth metals and oxides like Neodymium, Praseodynium, and 15 other rare earth metals in that class to build your favorite iPhones, computers, tablets, and even our very own missile defense system.  Well, China controls 95% of the global trade of these rare earth metals.  This dynamic is not necessarily due to their economic acumen, but because most of these metals are geographically located in China!

However, China is aware of the need and demand for these metals in modern technology, and put an export quota on these precious minerals. This drove the stock prices soaring through the roof.  One of the major Chinese rare earth companies, China Nonferrous Metal Industry’s Foreign Engineering and Construction Company, is even building a new plant to increase production of the metals. This new plant is primed to produce ~7,000 tons of the metals per year. Their only real competition is an Australian company named the Lynas Corporation.  The demand is high as China has pumped out ~ 31,000 tons in one year.  Apple should keep relations nice and cozy!

China and South America’s Emerging Economy

China is also heavily invested in South America.  The Southern Pacific Review published an article this October.  The author, Walker Rowe, stated that Chile is looking for foreign investors, and has invited a Shanghai investment banking company to attend their International Investment Forum Chile 2014, which is scheduled for January 13-16 in 2014.  He reports that China already has 3 mining companies in Chile ( Jia He Wei Ye, Golden Resource, Sky Solar), and the National Development Bank of China is involved.  Moreover, Chile lacks the natural resources of oil, natural gas and coal on a sustainable scale.  China has already worked out plans to develop solar power for Chile.  According to the article, “Sky Solar is set to operate 75,600 solar panels over 42 hectares of desert”.  To put the cherry on top of the sweet deal, Chile signed a free trade agreement with China that exempts 97% of goods from import tariffs!!!

In Argentina, Lenovo (Chinese technology manufacturer) has partnered with an Argentinian based company named Newsan, in a tax-free locale called Tierra del Fuego, and are building computers, tablets, and other electronic devices.

The Aluminum Corporation of China has setup their copper mining operations in Toromocho, Peru. Brazil has allowed two Chinese car manufacturers (JAC and Chery) to build plants there.  They’re projecting to build at least 100,000 cars per year, per company.  Ecuador has reportedly signed a $1.4 billion dollar agreement with China’s ECSA mining company to operate its’ El Mirador copper mine. Bolivia has agreed to let China’s CITIC Guoan Group conduct research into Bolivia’s lithium and potassium reserves.  This is huge potential for the lithium ion battery market. The article stated that Bolivia has 10,582 square kilometers of salt flats, and that’s where the lithium reserves are located.

China and America

China has already taken over Detroit.  An article in Forbes Magazine by Gordon Chang describes how Chinese investors are purchasing property in bulk, by the hundreds.  The Dongdu International Group of Shanghai has already purchased the David Scott, and Detroit Free Press Buildings for $9.4 million in a September auction.  Over the past few decades there has been an influx of products that are stamped with  “Made in China”.  These products include various technologies, home furnishings, entertainment consoles, and yes the Nike Airs that teenagers die over.

Unfortunately, China is aware of America’s financial status and has repeatedly vocalized trade concerns over the growing impotency of the American Dollar, and whether to even honor it.

China and Africa

Anybody that follows geopolitical events and economics, knows that Africa has become the global kiosk for natural resources.  I wont go in depth about this, I’ll encourage you to read an article I posted about Africa on BlackBlueDog.com

Conclusion

In conclusion, China does an amazing job at remaining neutral in global conflict.  This semi-congenial approach allows them to establish amicable rapports internationally to their economic benefit.  Their global posture permits them to conduct trade agreements with countries that have an aversion to U.S. foreign policy.  Where do you think we fit in this as African Americans?? America can take notes from China, ……and obviously, I should have asked Santa for the Mandarin edition of Rosetta Stone for Christmas. Peace!!
